Dance Pad Foam Underlayment Tiles, Foam Dance Floor
Sport Plus Designer Foam Tile is a high density and durable interlocking foam sport tile. This foam tile features a durable top texture that is an excellent choice for indoor aerobic floors, dance floor underlayment and sport floors.
And for those looking to create a space for dance workouts, either personally or commercially, this dance pad foam underlayment is the perfect solution for home, recreational and club dance studios. This is a great subfloor for dancers of all ages. Use this single layer of high density foam to provide protection from hard floors for dancers, except for advanced ballet adult dancers.
Dance Use Cases as Underlayment
This foam tile makes an excellent economical underlayment option for many types of dance floors. When used under a Marley dance floor surface, the foam tile provides separation from hard surfaces such as concrete. Without some type of sprung or padded dance floor, dancers can develop shin splints. You do not need to add a layer of plywood between the foam dance floor tiles and the Marley floor. Just install the Marley floor directly over the foam dance floor.
This product is great for use as an underlayment for jazz, tap and modern dance floor surfaces too. Just install these EVA dance floor underlayment tiles over the cement floor or other hard surface. Then you can install the marley dance flooring over the dance pad foam underlayment. This ensures a more cushioned subfloor versus attempting to install the vinyl dance flooring directly onto the concrete.
By having a bit of cushioning for the dancers in the flooring, you'll reduce the chances of joint injuries occurring. And the softer dance floor underlayment should allow the dancers to practice for longer periods of time without becoming leg weary as they might on a hard surface with no padding.
However, this dance flooring underlayment is not recommended for advanced ballet, where pointe is practiced. The foam tile material is too soft and slow to respond for pointe when used by a normal-sized adult dancer. It can be used for a child ballet dancer in home dance floor studios, as well as club or recreational dance studio floors, as most children's weight will not compress the material to the point that it's too slow to respond for pointe.
Other Use Cases
You also can install this sports foam flooring option wall-to-wall in any room of the home. For larger commercial operations, consider our full-size interlocking foam floor tiles in various colors.
EVA foam doesn't contain any rubber, although some people incorrectly refer to this type of dance floor underlayment as rubber foam tiles. EVA foam works great for dance and athletic flooring because it will absorb impact from falls and allows for easy cleaning and disinfection. You'll find just enough give in this type of dance pad foam underlayment to provide an anti-fatigue surface for athletic practice or dance practice. Yet it also has enough sturdiness and density to provide a solid surface for successful sudden movements.
These tiles will stand up to rough treatment as a dance floor or athletic floor. If installed and cared for properly, you can expect to receive several years of usage from the dance pad foam underlayment. However, we do not recommend using this flooring in areas of high traffic where people will be walking in street shoes on it. In other words, don't install these foam underlayment EVA tiles in walkways or entryways to your dance studio. Instead, only use the tiles in the dance studio or exercise area itself.
These dance floor underlayment tiles carry a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty. The tiles have a Shore C density rating of 65, which means they are among the most dense type of EVA foam tiles that you can purchase and use.
Before installing, closely measure the area where the dance pad foam underlayment tiles will be installed. Each tile measures exactly 2-by-2 feet, providing a coverage area of 4 square feet. The tiles are 3/8-inch in thickness. Because individual tiles only weigh 1.75 pounds, it's easy for one person to handle the installation alone, although the process goes faster with multiple people.
You'll install the foam dance floor tile directly over concrete or any hard, flat surface for an easy-to-install, non-glue down solution. These interlocking tiles fit together tightly with no seams when installed correctly, ensuring dancers and others using the floor won't trip.
To install this underlayment foam tile, simply interlock the tiles together. With interlocking notches on all four sides of the tile, you can connect other tiles easily for a tight fit without the need to use any adhesive. As an added benefit, if you don't use adhesive on these dance floor underlayment tiles, you can disassemble them at any time to move them to a new room or to store them.
You can select an island installation with these tiles, where you'll create an area of dance floor padding in the middle of the room, or you can create a wall-to-wall installation, where the tiles stretch the full length and width of the room.
For an island installation, measure the amount of space you want to cover with your dance floor. Then begin laying out the dance floor foam underlayment tiles. To finish the edges of the tiles at the outside of the island installation, add a border piece to create a flat edge.
For a wall-to-wall installation, start in one corner of the room and lay tiles from there. (Leave roughly a 1/4 to 1/2-inch expansion gap between the tiles and the wall, as we'll explain later.) Use the border pieces to create a flat edge along the two walls where you started. To create flat edges when you reach the other two walls, you'll probably have to cut the tiles. You can cut these foam floor tiles with a carpet knife and a straightedge.
Although you can install these tiles over any hard surface with no adhesive required, we do not recommend placing them over carpeting without using double-sided carpet tape, as the tiles could slip out of place when installed over carpet.
Allow the foam tiles to acclimate to your room before installation. The foam tiles can expand with changes in heat and humidity, so allow at least a 1/4-inch expansion gap for wall to wall installations.
Here are some tips for making sure the tiles remain in top condition for several years.
Vacuum: You can clean these tiles with a vacuum cleaner, making the process of maintaining them easy. However, don't use a power head on the vacuum, as this could damage the surface of the tiles.
Other Cleaning Materials: Should the foam dance floor tiles become soiled, you can use a mixture of dishwashing soap and water to clean stains. Avoid using a steam cleaner on these tiles, as it could heat them up excessively and cause them to expand. The foam dance floor tiles will not absorb water, but it's recommended you clean up liquid spills or cleaning materials as soon as possible to avoid any chance of discoloration occurring.
High Traffic: This foam tile is not rated for commercial use in high traffic areas. Also avoid using these dance floor underlayment tiles in areas where people may walk on them with sharp heeled shoes, as these types of shoes can puncture the tiles.
Indoor Use: It's recommended that the dance pad foam underlayment tiles be used indoors only. When used outside, the foam tiles may expand and curl if exposed to direct sunlight in warm climates for extended periods of time. This means that if you do need to use the tiles outdoors that you disassemble them and move them indoors as soon as the event is finished.
Color Changes: These dance floor underlayment tiles could fade if exposed to the sun too long, so store them in a place away from direct sunlight. Harsh cleaning chemicals could cause a discoloration in the tiles, so if you must use a cleaner on the tiles, test it in a location you won't see or on a spare tile to ensure it won't damage the tile. Additionally, color and shade may vary somewhat from foam tile to foam tile within the same order. This is common with EVA foam tiles.
Replacement Tiles: Because our dance pad foam underlayment tiles are not installed using adhesives, you can replace an individual tile at any time, should it become damaged. This particular model of foam dance floor tile is not reversible, so you'll have to replace any damaged tile with a new tile.

The foam tiles from Greatmats don’t require an additional layer beneath them, yet they are sturdy and block moisture. They also work for dancers who do pointe work when used in combination with the Rosco marley top. During pointe, my daughter needs something firm with a very slight give, and the foam tiles and Rosco marley have worked out really well.
Your flooring has been a huge lifesaver for my daughter :) we were worried about her taking all these online classes and how dancing on non-proper flooring wasn't safe and difficult for her -- having her new flooring has been amazing.
Product was as described, and not damaged. A great experience, and it was a seamless process from order to delivery.

Easy ordering and easy installation of marley dance floor. Would purchase again from GreatMats
Great product and very easy to install. Only giving it 4 stars because the mats were all different shades of black. Luckily it was going under my dance floor, so it did not matter all that much in this instance.
The website was a little confusing, but the product was just what i was looking for and arrived quickly without incident.
Ive been happy with my dance floor. The marley is very sturdy, and the interlocking foam pads have added some great cushion. For my needs I would have preferred more friction because it was very slick with my Irish dance shoes when I first started using it.
I love greatmat.com, their products and employees!
This is a great company to work with. Products are exactly as described and the sales staff works with you to make sure your order matches your dimensions. Highly recommend!
I purchased these mats for our student dance floor. they were easily installed and the Instructor and our Students absolutely LOVE their new floor! Perfect!

Exactly what I needed!
Greatmats is in my opinion a better value than their competitors who sell the same things at twice the price. My floor got delivered as promised and was easy to install, as promised. My daughters dance room looks and works great. Thanks Greatmats
Experience design people can provide you options, suggestions and guidance. Great products. Worked perfectly!
Great service- I initially put an order in and they called a few days later to say that they no longer carry the item- but right away they offered me a comparable item that ended up being much cheaper. Everything arrived on time and without damage.
Bought the the Sport foam puzzle mat to start my daughters dance studio floor and will be ordering soon the Marley flooring from you soon. Your agents where very friendly and helpful directing us on what to do. Thank You!
While I was initially upset due to delivery issues (my concern was never with the product as we have used this in the past), the owner of Great Mats went out of his way to contact me and resolve the issue I had. I truly appreciated his understanding and kindness, completely changing my view on their correspondence and customer service. Thank you.
The mats I bought came quickly and are super high quality! And of course easy to put together. Im super pleased
Greatmats is excellent. Shipping was so fast. I recommend to anyone.
I am wanting to convert my garage into a dance studio room for my daughters and am looking for flooring that is reasonably priced and will protect them from the hard concrete. Would you recommend this flooring? My main concern is that they will be able to turn on the floor smoothly. Thanks!
Would you put these tiles directly over ceramic tile in a basement? Would it ruin the floor?
can this be put directly under laminate flooring?
If you use as a sub floor for a dance studio, do you need a layer of plywood on top before you lay the Marley floor?
What is the life expectancy got these floors?
Can these tiles be used directly over concrete basement floor without any overlay for child's dance and play area?
Can this tile go over thin carpet on concrete? Then lay Marley on top? Trying to add cushion over concrete and cannot afford sprung flooring yet.
