Product Questions:

I'm afraid these carpets will get dented or puncture by heavy furniture. Do you recommend using furniture sliders to protect this carpet tiles?
When moving furniture around, the sliders are a good idea, under the feet of the furniture you can use coasters to disperse the weight so that the feet don't indent the material.
How do you clean this carpets if you lay an entire basement floor with them? It would be too much work to take them all outside to wash them and then reinstall them. Can you use Stanley Steamer or another carpet cleaning company or a rug shampooer?
This carpet can be vacuumed and cleaned like other carpeting material. We dont have experience with the steam cleaning option.
Can you wear high heels on this without indenting or messing it up?
Yes. High heels will not damage these carpet tiles.
Could you park a lightweight sports car on it?
You could, and the weight of the car would most likely leave indentations in the foam base.
Are these sold in any retail store?
We only sell this product via the web.
Has anyone walked with heels on these? Will high or low heels / women's shoes puncture this flooring?
High heels will not puncture this carpet tile.
Are the edge borders beveled?
With this product they are not.
Could this be used as the flooring in a home gym? (ie. put a pilates machine and a small weight rack on it.) Is it water resistant? Could I scotch guard it to protect from sweat?
The carpet is waterproof, we are not sure about the Scotchguard, and yes home gym equipment can be placed on top of these carpet tiles.
Can these tiles be used on a covered porch? There is some water that comes in and temperature changes.
Yes but then you have to take the carpet up each time it gets wet for drying purposes. Maybe go with a perforated pvc tiles like our Staylock Perforated Tile
Can these carpet tiles be glued down?
They can be and they don't need to be, as they are interlocking tiles.
Would these carpet tiles be good for a classroom rug? Is the carpet soft, or does it have more of a scratchy feel?
The carpeting has a soft feel, and is made from a polypropylene and polyethylene blend. The material is waterproof and easy to clean. You may find helpful information in our Knowledge Base about this. This blog addresses the different types of uses other customers have found the tiles to work well for.
Can these be placed over existing carpet in order to protect it from pet stains and hair?
These can be placed over low pile, no pad carpet if installed wall-to-wall. Small island installations may shift overtop of existing carpet, and if an existing carpet is well padded, some separation may occur between interlocking carpet tiles placed over it due to heavy objects/feet sinking into the the padding at the seams.
I'm worried that dog and cat hair will get intertwined with the nap and be very difficult to vacuum up. Is this a legitimate concern? Has anyone had a problem with this?
Not really sure about this one, it could happen.
Which color has less of a seam appearance when put together in a large area?
Maybe the darker colors will show less seams. If you are ok with a checkerboard pattern, alternating colors is the best way to disguise any color variations that may be present.
What is the best way to install wall-to-wall if your room is not square?
The tiles can be custom installed with custom cuts using a sharp utility knife. This blog and video in our Knowledge Base walks you through the installation process, including custom fitting the carpet tiles if they need to be cut.
One of the other questions mentions edge-borders. Are those edge-borders separate thin strips or can the tiles be purchased such that the perimeter tiles have the edge-borders ''built-in'' to the edge tiles? ... i.e., do the four corner tiles and the 12 interior edge tiles on a 10' x 10' have a straight edge?
All of the tiles are the same, all of the borders are separate snap on pieces and no tiles have a built in edge.
my need is for area rugs/anti fatigue mats in a basement that gets water seepage during heavy rains. When this happens my anti fatigue mats and area rugs get soaked, and are very heavy to remove and take outside to dry out. Is your product a solution? Do these soak up water if I get water in my basement? Or will they remain dry and the water will travel around them? Thanks in advance.
The carpet tiles do not absorb water themselves. I would also consider using aperforated modular tile such as our Patio Outdoor Tile here, https://www.greatmats.com/tiles/interlocking-patio-tiles.php, underneath your existing fatigue mats.
How well does this help with insulating the floor?
The carpet tile will stay the same temperature as the room temperature.
how well would this hold up driving a small car over it and parking it ?
This indoor carpet tile is not designed for and not tested for autos.
How many tiles will it take to do a room 25x25
To determine the tile count per job, either use the quick calculator on the product page or the floor plan designer. In this case its 169 tiles.
How would you cut the tiles to fit around a semi-circled fireplace hearth?
Cut these interlocking padded carpet ties with a sharp utility knife. Perhaps make a template for the curved area.
I'd like to lay this over a concrete floor that has been revealed to have old black mastic adhesive. Is it OK to put a vapor shield under these tiles?
Yes you can install a plastic vapor sheet under these interlocking carpet tiles.
I'm looking for a product that can be used on radiant heat floors. Would this work?
Foam tiles are completely safe to use over in-floor heating systems. However, foam does provide a layer of insulation between the floor and the room, so it may block a small amount of heat from escaping the floor. Further, foam tiles can expand with changes in heat and humidity. We suggest allowing the foam tiles to acclimate to a room before installing. It's also smart to allow for a small gap between tiles and wall when executing wall-to-wall installations.
Will the tiles lay flat on uneven floors?
These interlocking squares will flow with slopes and work well over slight imperfections. If you have large gaps or divots, they should be corrected before adding another flooring.
Does these carpet tiles have any insulation value
These tiles have a similar insulation value to carpet.
Can these carpet tiles be used for a pontoon boat floor?
These mats are not designed for outdoor use. However, we have had customers use these for their boats and pontoons with success. We suggest taking them up when not in use or covering.
I'm looking for a carpet tile to go on my deck boat that will hold up so i don't half to pull all my seating and everything off just to replace the floor and walk way area. do you have that, I have a lot of friends with pontoon boats that would buy it for the same reason.
These mats are not designed for outdoor use. Customers use these for their boats and pontoons decks with success. We suggest taking them up when not in use or covering. These mats can be cut to fit using a sharp utility knife to fit around your seating.
Do these tiles outgas a smell?
These carpet mats have not been known to smell. We suggest getting a sample.
Can I use Carpet Tile UNDER a Softub (soft sided hot tub)? It is a 6' round shape that holds 300 gallons (about 2,400 pounds). The weight is spread out over the entire bottom (no legs). I want to carpet the entire room (12x12) with the carpet, and place the movable Softub on top. It is a concrete floor underneath. Thank you.
We suggest placing the carpet tiles around the perimeter of the tub, not beneath.
How wide are the border strips? It looks like they add about an inch to the tile. Is that right?
The borders add about a 1/2'' to the tiles per border.
Will this carpet hold up to roller desk chairs moving around on it ?
This is a soft, padded carpet tile. We recommend using a firm vinyl or pvc desk chair mat over top of the carpet tiles where you'll be using roller desk chairs.
Does each tile come with 4 border trim pieces?
2 border strips come attached to each tile
Can you install this material on the walls? If so, what kind of adhesive?
You can try contact cement to attach them to the walls.
Will these interlock with the 5/8 foam kids and gym mats?
No, it's a different interlock.
Are these tiles ordered by the piece or are cartons of 25 required?
You can order these by the tile.
What if the interlocking pieces get smushed/crushed. Is there anything I can to help them regain their shape and thickness?
Depending on the severity of the effected area, allowing the tiles to lay flat over time may help them regain their shape.
Is the backing still a polypropylene and polyethylene blend and is this material toxic? Do you know how it compares to EVA foam?
The foam backing on these tiles is EVA foam, which does not contain BPA or phthalates.
Is each tile 18 inches square? What are the dimensions of a single tile?
Each tile measures 2 feet by 2 feet and is 5/8 inch thick.
How much weigh do they hold
These carpet tiles are strong enough to last under tables and chairs. However, heavy furniture left in place for an extended period will likely leave indents if furniture coasters are not used beneath the legs.
hi for 20 X 20 booth at a show how many tiles we need? and is it all your tiles 1x1 or you have 2x2?
These tiles measure 2x2 feet. For a 20x20 foot area, you would need 100 tiles.

Customer Rating:

Royal Interlocking Carpet in the basement is wonderful. Install is super easy with a utility knife to trim to fit for a wall to wall installation. Keeping the ''grain'' of the carpet in the same direction is easy when you review the back of the product when installing. My wife actually laid the field and enjoyed doing it. Look forward to using it some more!

Customer Rating:

The ordering and delivery process was flawless even in the midst of the virus. The carpet tiles were extremely easy to install. We'll see how durable they are long term, but so far they've added the perfect finishing touch to our basement rec-room!

Customer Rating:

They were received promptly. Easy and quick installation and they look great. The only negative for me was that the shipping cost was high in my opinion.
