Home Rubber Plyo Floor Roll Black, Plyometrics Mat for Insanity
The Plyometric Rubber Roll offers a perfect surface for creating a home plyometric workout area. You'll use this plyometrics mat for home plyo drills, including box jumps, side-to-side jumps, lunging, and all other aerobic type floor exercises. This home plyometric flooring is durable, high performing and convenient.
We've collected some of the best reasons for making use of our plyometrics mat for insanity types of workouts, as outlined below.
Please note: When installing end to end this material will need to be cut square on the ends. The ends of this product are not cut square at the factory. Interestingly enough, this is industry standard. On site installation will require that the ends of this material is cut square using a sharp utility knife, if the material is be installed end to end.
The material is not cut to a perfect 10 ft length. The rolls are 10 ft at minimum and often a few inches longer, this is common in the industry for rolled rubber material. The material is very easily cut to length, with a sharp utility knife and a straight edge.
Excellent Cushioning and Shock Absorption
This highly shock-absorbent rubber material comes in a one-piece roll of 4 feet by 10 feet for jumping or intense aerobics as well as advanced plyometrics. This rubber flooring has a slightly porous structure, creating the cushioning while remaining durable, which is perfect for plyometric exercises.
Box jumps: The rubber flooring gives you a sure surface from which to start your jump onto the box. And when you're jumping back down, the rubber has just enough cushioning to keep your joints safe. Additionally, the box will remain in place as you jump onto and off of it, because of the friction the rubber flooring provides.
Broad and skater jumps: You need a sure-footed surface when performing these plyometric jumps, which the rubber flooring rolls provide.
Jumping rope: When jumping rope, you could wear down some types of flooring by jumping in the same spot over and over. Our rubber flooring is designed for and will stand up to this type of repetitive exercise easily.
The rubber flooring absorbs sound, so if you're in a multi-floor building where the noise from people jumping on the floor while exercising could bother others in the building, this flooring can fix this problem.
For most types of plyometric activities, our 8 mm thick flooring will give you the cushioning you need to perform these exercises safely. However, if you plan to use free weights on this floor as part of your plyo exercises, you may want a thicker material. Kettlebells and free weights may cause damage to the sub-flooring when dropped if your rubber flooring is not thick enough. Contact customer service team to learn about our other options for the thickness measurement of rolled rubber flooring.
Cost Effective Material
Rubber rolls of flooring tend to be some of the most cost effective options for installing flooring in your home or gym. Additionally, because installation of rolled rubber flooring is a relatively easy process that you can perform yourself or with just a little help, you won't spend extra money on hiring professional installers.
Our 8 mm thick rubber rolls of flooring will cost less than rubber tiles or mats. Because of their size, these rolls will have fewer seams than other types of flooring too. The rubber flooring provides better durability than what you'll find with foam flooring. But foam flooring is lighter, which makes it easier to install and cheaper to ship than heavier rubber.
Calculating how many rolls you need for your plyo mat installation is a straightforward process because of the straight edges on the rolls. However, if you encounter any questions during the calculation process, please contact customer service team for some help.
Each roll of plyometrics mat weighs about 53 pounds and covers 40 square feet of area. When installing the rolls, you'll place them side by side, and there's no interlocking design required, so one person can perform the installation. However, the heavy weight of an individual plyometric mat means it's easier if more than one person is involved in the installation and moving of the mats.
Preparing for Installation
When preparing to install the plyo mat, you'll want to make sure the substrate consists of a hard and smooth surface. Concrete and wood are the most common types of sub-surface flooring for these rubber rolls. If the sub-surface flooring has any defects in it, these will be visible through the rubber flooring too. Repair any cracks, knock down any imperfections, and fill in any indentions in the subfloor before rolling out the rubber plyo mat.
Clean the sub-flooring as thoroughly as possible before installing the plyometric mats. Remove any dust, grease, and other foreign objects from the floor. Additionally, allow the sub-flooring to dry completely before you roll out the rubber flooring.
Finally, store the plyometrics mat roll in the same room where it will be installed, allowing it to acclimate to the temperature and humidity levels in the room, for at least 24 hours before installation.
Easy Installation Process
You can install the flooring with a dry lay installation technique, where you can tape it down around the edges. You also have the option of using a full glue down for a more permanent installation. If you choose a glue down installation, take care to not use too much adhesive, as excess glue could leak through the seams between the mats, creating a significant mess.
We recommend a glue down installation in areas where the plyometrics mat will be subject to heavy foot traffic. A double-faced carpet tape installation will work perfectly well for an area with average foot traffic for the floor. Do not use duct tape on the surface of the rubber mat to tape down the seams, as it will leave a residue on the floor that's difficult to clean.
Unroll the plyometric mat, starting in one corner of the room for a wall-to-wall installation. You'll want to leave a slight gap between the flooring and the wall to allow for expansion and contraction. Match the size of the gap to the thickness of the floor, so in this plyo mat installation, the gap should be about 5/16th of an inch (or 8 mm).
Once the installation is complete, we recommend using a 75- to 100-pound floor roller to ensure removal of all trapped air. Start in the middle of the floor and push the roller to the edges.
You can choose to create an island installation of the plyometric mat too. An island installation may be more appropriate in a space that is used for more than one type of activity. The island installation keeps the area that will be used for plyometrics smaller, allowing other activities or exercise machines to occupy other spaces in the room.
Excellent Quality and Durability
Our plyometrics mat rolls are Made in the USA products, which means you can count on the high quality of the construction and the durability of the materials. The rubber material in our plyometrics mat will not flake off on its own.
Our 5-year limited manufacturer warranty backs the unmatched durability of the rubber flooring. This floor is specifically designed to withstand the explosive repetitions performed in rigorous athletic workouts.
Like all rubber flooring products, this product does have some rubber smell. The level of odor is very low when compared to other types of rubber flooring in the same flooring category type and price range. However, those who have a high sensitivity to odors may not like this flooring in an enclosed space with little ventilation. Sometimes, you can reduce the intensity of the rubber smell in the plyometric mat by washing it. This smell also will reduce in intensity naturally over time.
If you do not use the entire roll of plyo mat in your initial installation, or if you need to pull up the rubber flooring to give the room another purpose, you need to store the roll in a vertical position. Roll up the flooring onto the cardboard center post that shipped with the plyometrics mat roll initially. Once the material is rolled up, you'll want to store it on its end, so the weight of the roll doesn't collapse on itself, which could happen if its stored horizontally. Do not roll up and store the plyometric mat without a center post. If you no longer have the cardboard center post, you can use a PVC post that has the same diameter as the original cardboard post.
Ease of Maintenance
Our plyometric mat rolls are economical and easy to maintain. You'll be able to perform a basic cleaning of the material on a regular basis, while undergoing a more thorough cleaning periodically as needed.
For daily, basic cleaning, you'll just vacuum the rubber flooring as needed. For a more thorough cleaning, use a damp mop with a neutral pH cleaner. Please note that the slightly porous structure of plyometrics rubber flooring material requires more drying time than standard rubber flooring. (This same slightly porous structure also gives the plyometric mat its resiliency.)
Be sure to avoid using any solvent or oil-based cleaners, such as Pine-Sol, Lysol, Murphy's Oil Soap, WD-40, or paint thinner, because these materials will cause the rubber flooring material to break down. Only use a neutral pH cleaner to clean the plyo mat rolls.
When you're ready to order our rubber rolls for plyometrics, please contact customer service personnel. We can help you obtain custom cut lengths, regular rolls of 10 feet in length, or custom lengths of 30 feet or longer. We also can send you a free sample if you'd like to see the quality of this plyometrics mat flooring.
Greatmats Rubber Roll 4x10 ft x 8 mm Thick for Plyometric Drills Aerobic Exercise Flooring Work Out Mat Box Broad Skater Jumps
They work very well for plyometric and weight workouts.
We love the floor and the rubber smell went away faster than I expected. The only issue I have is it's hard to clean. I used a looped end cotton mop and the fibers stuck so then after I clean, I have to vacuum (over and over) to get all the little pieces of the mop up off the floor. I'm hoping in time the stickiness will go away.

Bought two rolls for our garage which we put under our heavy bag. My wife and I workout boxing and kick-boxing. The mats don't move even on bare concrete. We also jump rope without a problem. We unroll and roll them back up after each use. They are heavy enough with enough cushion for working out. But light enough to roll-up and put away after each use. We are redoing out exercise room soon and intend to but several at that time.

Terrific mat which my wife uses for her Plyo exercises. We have installed in our garage on the epoxy floor and it does not slip at all and is also comfortable to lay on and also absorbs shock from your legs. Nice look and texture also. Worth the price.
The quality of these mats are even better than I expected. Also, the sales representative did a superb job on assisting me on my options for my home gym.

Very happy with the purchase. Be advised that the lenght varies between rolls significanlty. I bought two, and one is about 3 inches longer than the other.

I am using this rubber mat for a workout area where I have previously had 2 sets of foam mats. I believe these mats are indestructible. I give the product a 4 because they are not as good at dampening impact when doing impact exercise. They are a 5 when lifting weights and for relief when working at my work bench. The catch more dirt and dog hair than I imagined, but they are not hard to sweep off.
This mat is great. I just wish there was an easier way to roll it up and store it, but not a big negative.

This is what I was needing - it works out great for my workout routine.
Perfect for use as a dance floor sublayer to protect dancers on concrete. Works with or without using roll flooring overlay.
Easy to make lay flat.
Love the mats and the shipping was super fast this time. Still not happy that I have to cut my mats to size!
I called in and talked to Beth about plyometric mats... she was great and very informative. Beth was ready to send me estimates for a couple of options for my space. If this review stopped there I would give Greatmats and Beth 5 stars. But it didnt. I asked Beth about dance floors and she told me I needed to talk to Joann. Beth transferred me to Joann. Joann was rude, dismissive and never followed up on my request for estimates for two 25 linear feet rolls of Adiagio dance floor or the plyometric mats. I guess my dance studio wasnt going to be worth her time, or at least that is what I was left to believe. A couple of days later, I followed up with Beth. Yes, she gave me her direct extension. We verified that I had given her my correct contact info both cell and email. And she assured me she had sent the correct info to Joann. I waited a few more days.. needless to say. I did buy the plyometric mats Beth had recommended. But I went elsewhere for my dance floor. Think through that one Greatmats. Beth gets a 5. Joann.. doesnt.
Delivery was fast and easy. I live in a top floor walk-up apartment in NYC. My roommate is using it for plyometric exercise. It has cut down on vibrations and noise, and.leg stress. I would like a mat twice as thick, but it would be much too heavy to use since. It is stored between workouts. I researched the options available online and feel confident that this is the best option. happy with the purchase.

Great service. Great product.
So far, the mat is great. I put it down on a tile floor in my basement to give me more cushioning when I do my plyometric type exercises (T25, P90x). The mat does have a bit of a smell, but it doesnt bother me. And the rubber does NOT flake off, like ive heard some other mats do. I would definitely recommend.
We love th mats. It makes working out more enjoyable. No more hard cold floors. We now can move from workout position to the next without moving a small mat around. We highly recommend these mats.
Please Tell me if this product is environmentally friendly. Can I have the specifications of the product. Thanks, Wlson
They have a strong smell like a car tire store. How long does it take for the smell to go away? Does it ever go away completely?
Can this be used on a carpeted floor? For pivoting and kickboxing and things like that?
Does the rubber flake off the mat at all? I've heard some rubber mats do that.
I would like to install the home dance floor for my daughter. She's a professional ballerina, and has to practice pointe everyday at home. My house is hardwood floor, can you recommend the best surface floor and subfloor for me? Does Plyometric Rubber fit me? Thanks.
