Rubber gym rolls work nicely in workout areas, weight rooms, and gym floors found in homes, schools, and fitness centers. We offer these rolls of rubber matting in a few different thickness measurements, such as 0.25 and 0.5 inches. We also have various color options, including all black and with color flecks.
Characteristics of Rubber Mat Roll Material
A rubber matting roll from us will provide the best possible results in terms of longevity, using only the best and safest materials.
Unlike some cheap flooring rolls, we use a high quality of recycled rubber. Our recycled wholesale rubber flooring rolls help to keep rubber out of the landfill, while delivering excellent quality flooring.
Gym flooring rolls have a safe surface that provides excellent traction. Athletes won’t slip with this type of rubber floor installation.
Count on our roll of rubber floor to yield a high level of durability, as it won’t dent when heavy weights are dropped on it.
Rubber mat roll outdoor installations work nicely too. This material will not absorb random spills, although it will eventually absorb water if exposed to it regularly.
Rubber flooring rolls for gyms work especially well in areas where athletes will be sweating a lot during workouts. A thin rubber mat roll will not absorb odors. (The flooring will have a rubbery odor when it’s new, though.)
Unlike some colored rubber flooring rolls Lowes offers, our rolls with color flecks will maintain their color over time. The color flecks won’t wear away, because the color extends through the thickness of the rubber, rather than just on the surface.
Count on our suppliers to provide high quality rubber floors that are manufactured in the United States.
We offer custom cut lengths of rubber gym flooring rolls when requested. Some lengths will be provided as two rolls that can be combined to create the desired length.
Use Cases for Rubber Mat Roll
A rubber roll is a perfect choice to install in areas designed for workouts and training sessions. Those who use treadmills or heavy weight machines will be able to protect the sub-floor when installing these rolls between the sub-floor and the machines.
This type of rubber matting roll has a firm consistency, which results in the high level of durability. The feel of this type of flooring is similar to a car tire. Just don’t expect to receive a significant level of cushioning from rolls of rubber matting. For those seeking fatigue relief and a cushioned flooring product for workouts, we offers quite a few other types of flooring that work well. These are listed on our Aerobics Flooring category page.
No matter what size of rubber matting roll products are required, we have the perfect option. Our standard rubber floor product is offered in widths of 4 feet, while common length options are 10, 25, and 50 linear feet. Common thickness measurements are 0.25, 0.375, and 0.5 inches, as well as 8 mm (about 5/16 of an inch). For those who need custom cut lengths, please contact us to learn about the different options we have.
We offer precise manufacturing tolerances in these flooring rolls. The thickness tolerance measurement is plus/minus 0.02 inches, while the width tolerance measurements are plus/minus 0.25 inches.
Rubber Flooring Rolls Versus Interlocking Tiles
For those trying to decide between rolled rubber mats and interlocking tiles, use case should play a big role in helping you pick between the two.
Commercial facilities: For large areas, rolled rubber mats are less expensive to use than interlocking tiles. However, you shouldn't expose rubber mat roll to constant moisture and water, so for these areas, interlocking tiles represent the better option as they can be easily removed for drying and some rubber tiles are made of vulcanized rubber which is completely non absorbent.
Hard surface: Those who need an extremely hard and firm type of flooring will prefer the rolled rubber, which has less give than interlocking tiles - mainly due to the thickness.
Home use: Many people seek a type of rubber flooring that's easy to move from room to room when in use at a home, meaning interlocking tiles tend to work better. If you expect to make the floor permanent in your home gym though, either rubber mat roll or interlocking tiles work.
Additionally, a rubber mat roll may be tough for one person to install alone. One person can handle installing a series of tiles relatively easily, however.
Color Options for Rolled Rubber Flooring
To provide different color styles in our rubber gym flooring rolls, we add color flecks to the rubber flooring's black base. Because the flecks are inserted throughout the thickness of the flooring, you won't see the color flecks wear away over time. The flooring maintains its color as it ages.
Our rubber flooring rolls are available in standard 100 percent black or a base black with color fleck options at 10 or 20 percent saturation. For custom constructions, you can pick color flecks up to 90 percent saturation. You can see examples of the various color flecks on our website. If you choose a custom color flooring, minimum orders are required, depending on the thickness of the flooring, as follows.
1/4 inch (6 mm): 1,400 square feet
5/16 inch (8 mm): 1,120 square feet
3/8 inch (9.5 mm) 900 square feet
1/2 inch (12 mm) 640 square feet
Natural rolled rubber contain whitewalls from recycled tires in the rubber mix. The confetti color option includes colored materials of varying types of rubber from previous runs. These color mixes vary slightly among each of the rubber mat rolls.

Installation of Rubber Mat Rolls
As long as you're installing our rubber flooring rolls over a hard floor, these rolls are relatively easy to install, although having at least two people available to help with installation works better than one person working alone.
You'll lay the rubber mat roll directly over concrete, ceramic tile, a low pile carpet or any smooth, hard, flat surface. For a wall to wall installation, simply unroll the rubber mat and cut to fit with a straightedge and a utility knife. Our rolled rubber products are factory cut with precision at the widths of the rolls, meaning they will lay side by side with no gaps between rolls. However, the ends of the rolls are not cut square and will require trimming during installation.
To adhere the rubber mat roll to the floor, you may use either double sided tape or adhesive. You also may dry lay rubber rolls, but they should be taped at the perimeter and seams to keep them from overlapping or sliding.
Here are some tips for installation, depending on the size of the room.
Small areas: For installations of rubber mat roll in small homes or small rooms, you may not need to adhere the rubber flooring rolls to the floor, especially if furniture or exercise machines are atop the rolls, holding them in place. Still, we'd recommend using two-sided tape at the edges of each roll.
Medium sized areas: For medium-sized areas of less than 1,000 square feet, a double-sided carpet tape often provides enough adhesive to keep the rolls in place. However, some people prefer to use glue in this type of installation for a more permanent installation.
Large areas: For installations over 1,000 square feet, we always recommend a full glue down installation, especially where climate conditions may change. When gluing down the material, use a full spread glue method, covering the entire floor surface with glue where rubber will be laid.
During installation, pick an area where these rubber mat rolls will not be subject to constant dampness. Although non-porous, this rubber material will absorb water over time when submerged repeatedly or when power washed on a regular basis.
Should this rubber material become excessively wet, it is best to elevate the material off the ground for air drying or hand drying.
