Flat rooftops are perhaps the most underused living space available to people in urban environments. They are perfectly conducive to picnics, barbecues and other outdoor activities. Be sure to take advantage of them. You can change the space of your flat rooftop or old, weathered deck into a beautiful recreational area ready for fun of all kinds with our roof and deck tiles. When searching for the ideal rooftop flooring, there are a few key questions you'll need to ask yourself

  1. In what climate will this be installed?
  2. In what way will the rooftop be used? Playground, patio, outdoor kitchen, etc.?
  3. How long do I want this to last?
  4. Will I be installing it myself, with a team, or hiring it out?
  5. Will this rooftop flooring be permanent or temporary?
  6. What are the potential hazards?
  7. What look to I prefer?
  8. How often will it be wet? And will I still want to use it while wet?
  9. What type of surface/membrane will it be installed on?
  10. How important is it to be environmentally friendly?

Maintenance and Appearance
Standard decks, while commonly used for entertaining guests, quickly show the wear and tear of extreme environmental conditions if not properly sealed and maintained on a regular basis. With plastic or rubber deck tiles, you'll no longer need to worry about that old, weathered look and the warping, splitting and slivers that come with traditional wooden deck flooring. Simply cover that wooden surface with the durable, stylish, weather-resistant deck tiles to cut down on both maintenance and hazards. The tiles are flexible enough to accommodate the warping of the wood beneath without separating or buckling, preventing tripping hazards.

Deck and roof tiles add softness underfoot as well as a great appearance to your outdoor living space. You will never have to worry about staining your deck surface again with these products. Install them and forget if you want, but you'll always appreciate the physical and aesthetic benefits these deck tiles provide. No maintenance is required for the upkeep of these products.
Rooftop deck tiles are available in different colors so you'll be sure to find exactly what you need to match your decor and make your rooftop or deck look great.

Solid Deck Tiles
Roof deck tiles come in many forms. Solid-surfaced raised rubber tiles that can be pinned or clipped together for a non-glue installation, are some of the most popular choices. These interlocking roof deck tiles will not be damaged by extreme temperatures and provide an excellent non-slip surface that will not shift or curl. They are also lighter weight than concrete alternatives eliminating most need for extra roof reinforcement.

Perforated Deck Tiles
Modular drain-through, perforated deck tiles that simply snap together allow for a dry and safe rooftop or deck surface. The holes in the deck tile surface prevent water from pooling on top and let's it flow away, leaving you with a useable surface even during some of the wettest of conditions. Roof floor tiles can be installed over any rooftop surface and will not damage rubber or urethane roof membrane surfaces. Keep in mind not all deck tiles are intended for all kinds of rooftops, however. These tiles are lightweight, conveniently sized and very portable. With proper care, they can be installed, removed and removed numerous times without any damage to the tiles.

Installation and Cleaning
Roof deck tiles from Greatmats can be simply cut to fit around corners and obstacles. Border edging is available. Cleaning and care of most roof deck flooring tiles are as easy as using a garden hose and/or a broom.

Another nice feature about our rubber deck and roof tiles is the fact that they can connect without adhesive by using a pin or other interlocking system. This allows you to bring the tiles with you should you decide to relocate. It also eliminates the mess and added expense of gluing the tiles down. Rubber roof tiles are designed specifically for rooftop areas so they won't damage fragile membranes.

Our rubber deck mats come with limited warranties of between 5 and 15 years.

Alternate Uses
Many of these deck tiles also serve the purpose as playground flooring, making your expanded space one of enjoyment and value to adults and kids alike. They offer non-slip and forgiving surfaces that are resistant to extreme weather conditions without being damaged. Rubber deck mats will not break down under intense sunlight or split or crack with extreme cold.

These rooftop tiles provide a non-slip surface area in wet or dry conditions. Rubber rooftop tiles are permeable and some feature grooves molded into the base of the tiles that allows for easy lateral water drainage. This eliminates any worry of standing water on your roof or deck. One of our rubber roof tiles even offers a fall height rating of 2 feet. This provides you with additional protection over typical rooftop or deck-top flooring, and the peace of mind to go with it.

Plastic Deck Tiles
Our plastic deck tiles are lighter weight than our rubber rooftop tiles but also very effective at providing a soft and attractive surface for your roof or deck. These perforated tiles can be used for different applications including spas, pool surrounds, and playgrounds as well as decks and roof terrace flooring.

Plastic is less expensive to manufacture than rubber and, because it is lighter, costs less to ship. This makes it an economical counterpart to our rubber rooftop tiles. We carry a few options in plastic deck flooring and some come with up to a five-year warranty. Like rubber, these plastic tiles provide excellent drainage and are designed to withstand the elements outdoors.

Each of our plastic rooftop flooring options features a tab-locking system that eliminates the need for adhesives. The interlocking tabs are designed to stay together and will not work themselves loose over time. However, the tabs are made to come apart easily when you decide to take up the flooring to move it.

Plastic deck flooring provides fatigue relief and is much softer than most people think. It is a great alternative to higher priced rubber flooring for decks or roofs. Rugged enough to withstand regular use of chairs and tables, it also provides functions as a sound dampener.

Artificial Turf Deck Tiles
Still another option for your rooftop terrace or deck is our artificial turf tile. As with many of our outdoor deck tiles, this simulated grass tile can be used under tables and chairs. Some of these tiles are made with a base of wooden slats with an artificial turf on top. Flexible hose in the base of the tiles allows you to install these deck tiles over any surface even if it's not even. This product is condo-approved and requires no glue at install so you can move it from location to location. No wood screws or nails are necessary. This product is great for patios and balconies too. It even feels great to bare feet.

We also have durable polypropylene plastic-based artificial turf tiles that are lighter weight and still allow water to flow through them. These faux grass tiles work well for decks but should not be used on rubber roofing membranes.

Be sure to ask your customer service representative about border pieces and ramps. Some of our outdoor deck and rooftop flooring comes with these options and others do not.
