Choosing Your Laminate Floor

Consider the following factors when deciding which laminate flooring product is right for you:

  1. Will the flooring be used in a residential or a commercial space?
  2. How much traffic will the flooring see?
  3. Could moisture be an issue in the area where the flooring will be installed?
  4. Are you looking for a permanent or temporary installation?
  5. What kind of finish are you looking for, such as a wood or stone look?
  6. Do you need a flooring option that provides particular benefits, such as shock absorption, thermal comfort, or excellent durability?
  7. Are you looking for an environmentally-friendly product?
  8. Do you plan on using an underlayment with your flooring?

At Greatmats, we offer two main different types of laminate options: Cork laminate floors and vinyl laminate flooring tiles. We've outlined the different types below to help you get started.

Cork Laminate Floors

If you're looking for maximized comfort and shock absorption, then a cork laminate floor may be for you.

Cork composite laminate floors, made from sustainably harvested bark of cork trees, are an ideal choice for home flooring, including for living rooms and kitchens. It also works well for retail and office floors and is available in several color pattern options, including creme, coffee, Italy, and Latvia.

Cork laminate floors are shock absorbing and comfortable, helping to prevent sore feet, legs, backs, and joints. They also provide excellent insulation from heat, cold, and sound for a more enjoyable living space. Naturally a relatively soft material, untreated cork can be easily scratched or punctured. But with our ceramic micro bead technology, the laminated tiles are resistant to surface abrasions and scratches, making them a long-lasting flooring option. Our cork floors are 1/2 inch thick and feature a 3 year warranty.

Our cork laminate floors are also easy to install, thanks to the CORKLOC system. This innovative system allows for glueless floating installation. It saves you time and reduces your installation costs, and is yet another reason why cork floors are such a popular choice.

Vinyl Laminate Flooring Tiles

Vinyl laminate flooring tiles are a versatile, durable flooring option. We offer a wide range of interlocking laminate floor tiles that make for easy installation. Available in a great variety of finishes, you can choose floor tiles that closely resemble wood or even slate to match your decor scheme.

For a great multipurpose laminate flooring option, consider our Max Tile Raised Floor Tiles. These interlocking laminate floor tiles feature a durable commercial grade vinyl surface that allows them to be used for basements, portable dance floors, court flooring, aerobic and exercise flooring, trade shows, and even show rooms. The raised tile design allows air to flow underneath the tile, preventing moisture from becoming trapped. With an easy snap-together installation system, tiles fit tightly together and will not come apart unintentionally. They can, however, be easily disassembled and reinstalled in a new location if desired. Max Tiles are available in five different wood grain options as well as slate and black.

If you're looking for an eye-catching wood floor finish, consider our PlankFlex Floor Tiles. These luxury vinyl tiles feature an interlocking modular base. Their raised base allows air and water to freely circulate, helping to prevent mold and mildew growth. These interlocking laminate floor tiles give you the look of genuine wood at a fraction of the cost. They're perfect for permanent, temporary, or portable flooring and are equipped with a heavy duty clear wear layer. Plus, thanks to their 15 year limited warranty, you can invest in these tiles with confidence.

For a super simple yet long-lasting installation, consider our Vinyl Peel and Stick Floor Tiles. These tiles are available in a wide variety of attractive design finishes, and are a cost-effective commercial grade vinyl flooring solution. The peel and stick backing makes installation simple, and these tiles are very resistant to moisture. They won't expand due to moisture like laminate, ensuring a long-lasting installation.

If you need a tile that's suitable for a temporary installation, our Portable Dance Floors may do the trick. These high-quality floor panels have a long-lasting vinyl top surface, so they look great use after use. Installation is fast and easy, and you only need one tool for assembly. The floor's cam-lock technology offers the strongest locking mechanism possible, ensuring the floors won't separate until you're ready to break them down.

When you'll be flooring a larger space, investing in a vinyl roll may be a more economical choice. Our Wood Grain Dakota Vinyl Flooring Roll is a commercial quality vinyl flooring suitable for larger installations. This flooring is sound absorbing and skid-resistant, and is an excellent choice for high-traffic areas. This vinyl flooring roll has anti-microbial properties, and includes recycled content, making it applicable to LEED MR 4.1 and 4.2. Low-maintenance and available in 14 different color options, this vinyl roll is a versatile flooring option for commercial applications.

To add cushion and insulation underneath your laminate floors, be sure to invest in one of our floor underlayment options.

Our EZ Floor Underlayment is a popular choice for both home and commercial applications. The 2mm underlayment contains an integrated moisture barrier and helps to hide minor subfloor defects for a smooth laminate installation. This underlayment resists mold and mildew, and offers thermal comfort to help your flooring feel warmer. Made with 80% recycled content, the underlayment offers LEED points and has a 10-year residential warranty.

The EZ Floor Underlayment is also available in a 5mm version.
