These coin vinyl flooring rolls are 6 feet wide and 60 feet long. They are 0.080 inches or 2.0 milimeters thick with a 0.032 inch or 0.8 milimeter thick wear layer, and they have a 0.7 pound per square foot overall weight.
The coin vinyl flooring is super robust, and it passed short-term indentation testing where an indentation machine was used to indent a 1.125 inch diameter flat surface into the flooring under a specified load for 24 hours. Residual indentation is measured 24 hours after load removal. To qualify for commercial use per ASTM F1303, the load must be 175 lbs. It also was found to be heat, light, and static load stable.
This particular LonSeal flooring meets FMVSS 302: CFR 49 §571.302 - Flammability of Interior Materials and ASTM F1303 classification - Type I, Grade 1, Class B, for commercial use. The flooring offers Indoor Environmental Quality Credit, which shows that the manufacturer met the General Emissions Evaluation and VOC content requirements. The flooring materials come from a facility that has certifications from the ISO, a rigorous external third-party verification process that ensures Lonseal’s compliance to its own internal standards and to ever-changing environmental laws and regulations.
This LonSeal Moonwalk floor covering is GreenAir® & GreenMedic®, meaning low VOC-emitting and made using a formulation to inhibit the growth of bacteria that may affect the flooring. This product boasts FloorScore® certification from the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI) and Scientific Certification Systems which independently test and certify flooring products for compliance with indoor air quality emission requirements. It also meets the standards for the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS), a green building rating program especially designed for schools. It’s also made from pre-consumer, post-industrial recycled content and is phthalate free.
The Moonwalk product is relatively easy to install. After you have adequately prepared the subfloor and acclimated the product to the installation space, you can start the installation process by making any relief cuts and using double face LonSeal tape at seams, if needed. Starting with the sheet nearest the wall or perimeter, gently fold the flooring over intself lengthwise.
Then, apply adhesive over the substrate, let it set, and roll the flooring into the adhesive. Then do the other half of it, and the adjacent sheet, if present. Spread adhesive over the substrate and seam location, including any DFT. After sufficient open time, roll the flooring into the adhesive, first removing the DFT liner. Trim the seams and roll the flooring securely into the adhesive or DFT with a hand roller if needed, and heat or chemical weld the seams.
About 48 hours after the installation has been completed, you can clean the new floor using a soft dust mop. You can first vacuum first if you need to pick up any large particles. Then, using a diluted pHneutral cleaner, scrub the floor with a red buffing pad on a slow speed rotary floor machine or auto-scrubber, vacuuming up any remaining cleaning solution. You can finish with clean water and a clean microfiber mop pad to remove any remaining residue if needed.
Then, simply vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop the flooring whenever needed.
